Background
UNDP in Armenia was established in March 1993. UNDP Armenia Country Office (CO) supports the Government of Armenia, civil society and other stakeholders in meeting the country’s strategic development goals.
UNDP in Armenia assists the Government of Armenia and civil society in creating capacity to improve quality of life and well-being of people in Armenia. In the core of UNDP’s work in Armenia are fighting poverty and unemployment, supporting decentralization, ensuring equal access of women, men, vulnerable groups to education, social and economic services.
UNDP supports Armenia to have more empowered civil society, accountable and responsive public institutions, as well as helps addressing the challenges of resilience and a broad number of environmental issues, including disaster risks reduction, energy efficiency and climate challenge.
UNDP Strategic Plan 2014-2017 and its Integrated Results and Resources Framework guide UNDP work across the globe at country, regional and global levels. It allows UNDP and stakeholders to monitor achievements, learn lessons and hold the organization accountable for funds entrusted to it.
In transition to the new vision and priorities of the Strategic Plan, UNDP kicked off a number of important processes, including further strengthening of quality assurance and cross-cutting programming, results-based-management and evidence-informed programme and project planning, implementation, enhancing monitoring and evaluation.
UNDP Armenia Country Office aims at recruiting RBM and Gender Intern(s) to support the Country Office processes of, among other, cross-cutting programming, results-based management, and monitoring and evaluation.
Description of Responsibilities
The Intern(s) will work under the overall guidance of UNDP Armenia Deputy Resident Representative and direct supervision of UNDP Armenia Results-Based Management and Gender Equality Focal Point to support Country Office in day-to-day activities of Results-Based Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Integrated Cross-Cutting Programming, Gender Equality Mainstreaming, Quality Assurance, and Knowledge Management.
In particular, the Intern(s) will perform the following duties:
• Assist in day-to-day work on quality programming;
• Support in RBM and M&E quality assurance across the programme;
• Prepare background materials and information kits;
• Make small researches on particular topics, as might be required;
• Support in data collection, processing, and analysis;
• Draft different documents and prepare excel spreadsheets, as may be required;
• Draft blogs and articles in different areas to visualize programme results. Post information on various web sites, as will be requested;
• Support in organization of events, meetings, and workshops;
• Provide other support in relation to programme and operational processes.
Competencies
• Strong analytical skills. Experience with researching, data collection, analysis, preparing groundwork information, spreadsheeting and data maintenance;
• Proven strong organizational and logistics skills, experience in organizing events in coordination with parties involved;
• Ability to approach work with energy and positive and constructive attitude;
• Ability to focus on a variety of tasks within a deadline-driven environment;
• High level of motivation, ability to show initiative and work independently;
• Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively across different constituencies;
• Excellent interpersonal and representation skills;
• Demonstrated initiative, tact and high sense of responsibility and discretion;
• Previous successful experience with UNDP is an asset.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or current enrollment in graduate degree programme in Social Sciences, Political Sciences, International Relations, Linguistics, Journalism or related disciplines.
Computer skills: Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Internet. Skills related to use of office IT equipment. Experience of uploading web-based data.
Languages: Excellent written and spoken Armenian and English. Russian is an asset
