Job description:
The Solidarity Center in Armenia is seeking an expert/trainer on advocacy to develop and conduct a 6-day training on advocacy for workers and worker organizations.
It is expected that throughout the training the participants will:
- explore policy gaps and the most promising areas to engage in national reform efforts;
- get acquainted with the tools/methodologies of organizing and implementing advocacy campaigns in support of worker-identified reform issues, including power mapping, coalition building, issue identification, and agenda setting;
- improve skills necessary for an advocacy officer (communications, networking, negotiations, etc).
The participants will also have the opportunity to apply their skills to develop an advocacy campaign plan, having also a task to engage workers around the policy issues discussed.
Job responsibilities
- study and understand the needs of the target audience
- develop a 6-day training plan on advocacy (for a group of 20 participants)
- conduct the 6-day training for the target audience
- develop an evaluation methodology/tool for the advocacy training to evaluate knowledge increase among participants
- support the development of a labor network to engage in labor rights advocacy
- provide mentorship to the network on their advocacy interventions (for 3 months)
- work with Solidarity Center staff to discuss task-related issues and details.
Required qualifications
- Three (3) years of training experience;
- Experience in advocacy trainings is strongly desirable;
- Knowledge of worker rights issues and experience with labor organizations is desirable;
- Practical experience in advocacy campaigns is an advantage;
- Fluency in written and spoken Armenian, fluency in English and/or Russian is an advantage;
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to get along with a diverse group of participants.
