The Global Environment Facility (GEF) has opened the selection process for representatives of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to attend the 52nd GEF Council Meeting and Consultation with Civil Society, which will take place from May 22 to 25, 2017 in Washington, D.C.
GEF Council Consultation with Civil Society: The Consultation will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017. In advance of the Consultation, a Civil Society Preparatory Meeting will take place on the preceding Sunday, May 21, 2017.
Application and Deadlines: CSO representatives wishing to participate should apply online at the 52nd GEF Council - CSO Application – CSOs should not use the General Registration.
· Please fill out the online application form completely and carefully before submitting your application by no later than March 23, 2017.
· CSO representatives willing to attend as self-financed participants, registration will remain open until May 1, 2017.
· No registrations will be accepted after the respective deadlines.
Selection Process: The CSO Network will select the CSO representatives, who will be funded by the GEF Secretariat.
· Because of their role, all 16 regional focal points for the GEF CSO Network plus 3 Indigenous Peoples representatives will be selected by the Network. Therefore, only 13 places remain open for competitive selection.

Financial support: The GEF will sponsor the participation of a limited number of selected CSO representatives.
· Sponsorship will include round-trip transportation (flight tickets and hotel transfer), hotel accommodation (single room for meeting days only), as well as breakfast, lunch, and light break snacks during meeting days;
· Also, a modest per diem will be provided to cover expenses regarding airport transfer at the home country, evening meals, and hotel incidentals.
· Participants unavoidably overnighting in connecting locations will be provided additional per diem for covering hotel costs.
· Important Note: Sponsorship is limited to CSO participants from developing countries. CSO participants from developed countries are welcome to attend the event, but only as self-financed attendees.
