Chai Khana is introducing the opportunity to co-produce creative/experimental documentaries on two different topics (please see below). The documentaries should incorporate a unique story angle and author’s approach.
How to Apply:
There is a two-stage selection process.
Who may Apply: local documentary filmmakers from across the South Caucasus who have directed at least 2-3 short creative documentaries. Only citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia are eligible.
Submit your logline and synopsis (attached), with at least two work samples of documentary films, and your CV.
Chai Khana’s management will review all synopses and if it is successful, you will be asked to send: an in-depth pitch, a short teaser, and a draft budget for additional costs including travel/per diem and/or technical assistance.

Rural Communities (Final Cut: 1 October 2017)
- How rural communities are overcoming social/economic hardship (climate change, conflict, violence, challenges in education, healthcare, migration, etc)
- Natural and cultural heritage
- Vulnerable communities in mountainous regions, conflict-affected groups, struggling/striving
- Rural villages, women and youth
About Chai Khana
Chai Khana is an issue-based international media platform focusing on women, rural communities, and ethnic minorities, and giving voice to the under-represented across the Caucasus. Founded and managed by young women, the Tbilisi-based outlet uses innovative and experimental approaches in documentary photography, multimedia, and film. The name Chai Khana, tea house, represents a symbolic, collective space where people come together to exchange stories, ideas, and experiences. The platform elevates this space to a new level, talking to people in the whole South Caucasus, beyond its many borders.
