Request for Applications for Competitive Selection of an Implementing Partner for the "Improvement of Application of Alternative Energy in Support of Energy and Environmental Security in Syunik Region of Armenia" Project

COMPETITION TYPE:  Request for Applications No. 01/ 2016

OPEN TO/ ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:  Non-governmental organizations that have at least 3 years of relevant project management experience and have demonstrated the capacity to manage activities on the scale and nature corresponding to this Project.

DURATION:  6 months

LOCATION:  Kapan, Yerevan, Armenia

DETAIL DESCRIPTION:  Through the partnership with local municipalities and the regional administration of Syunik region, this Project aims at developing recommendations to improve energy and environmental security in the Syunik region through increased renewable energy generation and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from the electricity sector. The Project will be implemented through providing assistance for identifying and evaluating the potential for solar, hydro and geothermal energy resources and helping to prepare large-scale and small-scale schemes. The assistance will also include recommendation for energy saving resulting from the transmission back to the electricity grid of the extra energy produced from the renewable sources. The Project will also assist with improved public education about energy security including through the application of alternative energy approaches.

REQUIREMENTS:  In order to meet the requirements of the Project the Implementing Partner should have:
- Strong experience in the assessment of renewable energy resources;
- Strong experience in the assessment and preparation of renewable energy projects in Armenia;
- Strong experience in the application of energy efficiency and energy saving schemes;
- Strong experience of conduct of feasibility studies, including application of main investment appraisal methodologies;
- Proven experience in managing projects funded by international organizations;
- Experience in co-operation with local communities is desirable;
- Very good communication and presentation skills.
