The Between the Lines (BTL) Application deadline is
March 1, 2020, by 11:59PM (23:59) CST (GMT-6).Non-U.S. Students: The deadline for application, through the U.S. Embassy in your home country, may be sooner. Check with your embassy as soon as possible.
If you are interested in applying to Between the Lines, you should first read our FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) pages to ensure that you are eligible. Students must be between 15-18 years old to participate in BTL. We have two different FAQ pages: International Student FAQ and American Student FAQ. It is important to read the correct FAQ page as the application process is different depending on whether you are an American or international applicant.
In 2020, Between the Lines will host BTL: Identity and Belonging (open to U.S. students only) from June 20-July 4, and BTL: Peace and the Writing Experience (open to U.S. and international students) from July 11-25. International students travel to the U.S. with an adult chaperone selected and trained by BTL. For more information about the sessions, please visit the Between the Lines program page.

NOTE: The following formatting standards are required for all submitted documents. If not followed, applications may not be considered.
Format: Typed (Microsoft Word document preferred but not required)
Font type: Times New Roman
Font size: 12 point
Spacing: Double
Margins: 1 inch on all sides
Header: Include your name, name of piece (creative work, Prompt #1, Prompt #2, Statement of Purpose)
Footer: Include page numbers
Citations: If using other people’s words/content, always give them credit.
