Welcome to our first Newsletter
We have started a quarterly E-newsletter to inform the public of our programming and projects. We are embarking on this new initiative based on our partners’ feedback from a survey we conducted last year.
In 2016, João Saavedra, who is in charge of evaluations, and also a project manager in our Department, conducted a survey with our partners to discern their perceptions of our work. In line with our commitment to operate in a transparent manner, we are publishing the findings of this survey.
We are pleased to see that our partners appreciate our programming, acknowledge that our funding is having impact, and recognise our expertise in the relevant fields. However, they did also point out certain processes that we ought to improve.
We are launching the educational project “Zarmanazan” as part of our Western Armenian revitalization programme.
The initiative will incorporate two components that will mutually nourish each other:
A summer camp for children between the ages of 10 to 15, in a creative and playful world, aimed at encouraging the practice of Western Armenian.
A training internship designed for Western Armenian teachers or teachers-in-training in the Armenian Diaspora, leading to university certification by the Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales, Paris (INALCO).
The Armenian Communities Department and the Haigazian University in Beirut are happy to announce the launch of the Professional Development Programme for Teachers at Armenian Schools in Lebanon.
The objective of the Programme is to provide professional development opportunities, in line with current pedagogic approaches, to teachers and administrators presently serving in Armenian schools in all sectors of the community.
João Saavedra is a project manager at the Armenian Communities Department where he is responsible for both the Department’s evaluations and its third programming pillar of improving Armenian-Turkish relations.
He joined the Department in 2015 from the Foundation’s Development Aid Programme, where he had been working since 2012.
On October 20th 2016 Razmik Panossian sat down with journalist Roubina Margossian from CivilNet to discuss one of the core priorities of the Armenian Communities Department: the revitalization of Western Armenian.
