TITLE: Communications Intern

JOB DESCRIPTION
With its Internship Program, Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) Armenia opens its doors to graduate students making them part of its team and providing opportunities to gain valuable work experience, apply their knowledge in practice, while broadening the horizons, exploring different fields of work and developing professional network.
The Proposed Internship is with the BRIDGE for CSOs Programme that is implemented by AGBU with Eurasia Partnership Foundation and financed by the European Union. This three-year project was launched in December 2016. The project targets civil society organisations registered and operating in Armenia, Armenian universities, young professionals from Diaspora who would like to contribute their knowledge and expertise to strengthen the capacity of Armenian organisations.
In the course of internship within the framework of the BRIDGE for CSOs Programme, interns will gain knowledge about Armenian civil society, get insight into how non-profits operate and what challenges they face, acquire experience of working with a global Diaspora network of professionals, develop practical skills, and benefit from the expertise and insight of practitioners. While supporting BRIDGE Programme, interns get to participate in various capacity building workshops, attend cultural events and become part of the global AGBU community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support implementation and communications campaigns to raise public awareness about the BRIDGE Programme
• Assist in developing social media content for BRIDGE4CSOs and Together4Armenia Facebook pages
• Assist in writing press-releases and other communication material
• Develop profiles of various Civil Society organizations and upload them on together4armenia platform
• Write short stories about the beneficiaries of the BRIDGE Programme
• Conduct translations and do copy editing (English, Armenian or Russian)
• 30% of the Internship time will be dedicated to general assistance. The tasks may include assistance in organizing workshops, trainings and other events, administrative assistance.
Interns may also be asked to produce a brief end-of-internship report, and/or be encouraged to post about some of their experiences on AGBU website or social media pages.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Working towards a graduate University Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related discipline
• Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills in English and Armenian. Russian is a plus
• A creative thinker who can share ideas and see initiatives through from start to finish
• A can-do attitude and willingness to learn
• Experience with Microsoft Office, FB and Twitter
• A resourceful multitasker who thrives in a changing, fast-paced environment
• The ability to work independently and in a team
• Responsibility, flexibility, and ability to maintain confidentiality
• Candidates should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, creative, with strong organizational skills and work ethic
TERMS AND DURATION Interns will be supervised by BRIDGE team. They are expected to work a fixed schedule of 10-12 hours per week; working hours may be flexible to adapt to the student’s schedule. The internship is unpaid.
