World Vision started operations in Armenia in 1988 providing emergency aid to people affected by the devastating December earthquake. Later, World Vision's projects have transitioned beyond meeting the demands of crisis situations to promoting spiritual and physical transformation of 256 communities in 6 regions (marzes) of Armenia and Yerevan. Since 2001, World Vision’s assistance shifted towards long term development programmes, focusing on health, education, child protection and economic development. In all of its work, World Vision partners with the government at the national, regional and local levels, as well as other likeminded NGOs, corporates, private and institutional donors. In 2013, World Vision’s annual budget amounted to $13.1mln. Working through 14 Area Development Programmes (ADPs) located in Yerevan, Aragatsotn, Shirak, Lori, Tavush, Gegharkunik and Syunik marzes. Last year, World Vision’s programmes in Armenia directly reached over 468,100 people, 184,139 of them being children/youth; World Vision’s collaborative efforts on policy development and reform of social services indirectly impact the wellbeing of nearly 800,000 children and youth.
