Caucasus Research Resource Center (CRRC)-Armenia and Stitching Respect International West-East Bridges Foundation invite to a panel discussion on “Armenia at the crossroads of civilizations” within the training course “Go Non-Formal: Volunteering for Employability”. Panel discussion will take place on 2 November, 2015, 16:00-17:30. The location of discussion is 1 Alex Manoogian St., Yerevan State University, Palians’ Hall. The language of the discussion is English.
The goal of the discussion is to promote volunteering as an important solution for youth unemployment. The latter is one of the most critical challenges the world is facing today. Armenia is not an exception in this respect. Since volunteerism is perceived as one of the channels to solve the issue of youth unemployment, this meeting aims to understand young leaders’ attitude towards volunteerism.
Although volunteerism is a common accepted practice in Europe, it is not as popular in Armenia. Therefore, this discussion aims to find answers to such questions as “what kind of attitude Armenian youth has towards European values in general, and toward different forms of volunteering in particular,” “what is common between the European and the Armenian youth in this regard,” and “how volunteerism can help to overcome youth unemployment in Europe.” Hence, the main focus of the discussion is the youth, and its role in overcoming the challenges of unemployment via volunteerism.
About 25 young leaders, youth workers and NGO representatives from 14 European states (Armenia, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Georgia, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Netherlands, Romania, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and UK) will take part in the meeting. We are looking for up to 25 students, young researchers and NGO leaders (from Armenia) interested in the topic to participate in the meeting.
