New bridge to be constructed at the Georgia-Armenia border over the River Debed
The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure hosted a delegation from the government of Armenia to discuss an agreement on the construction of a new bridge on the State border of Georgia and Armenia (Sadakhlo-Bagratashen) over river Debed. Under the agreement, a joint committee was set up and a workshop of this committee was held at the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure.
From the Georgian side the meeting was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Ilya Darchiashvili, Deputy Minister Shergelashvili, Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Maia Bitsadze, Deputy Minister of Justice Gocha Lortkipanidze, the acting chairman of the Roads Department, Nugzar Gasviani and other officials. The Armenian side was represented by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communication of the Republic of Armenia Artur Arakelyan, Deputy Minister of Finance Armen Gevorgyan, Deputy Minister of Justice of Armenia Vigen Kocharyan and other government officials. The two sides discussed measures for effective implementation of the agreement. They discussed the creation of sub-commissions; joint commissions for evaluating tenders and other procedural issues. According to the First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Ilia Darchiashvili, after completing the constructing of the new bridge, passengers from the two countries will be able to move safely and comfortably.
