Towards an effective, pro-active and fair European Refugee Policy. Vision Europe Publication
Eight leading European foundations and think tanks have joined forces in the Vision Europe Network. This year we have worked on recommendations for effective and coherent policies to cope with the ongoing migration and refugee challenges. The currently dominant short-sighted policy making and resorting to narrowly focused immediate national interests have clearly led to a plethora of misguided and often even inhumane policies. We strongly believe that Europe urgently needs an effective, pro-active and fair refugee policy.
In preparation for the second annual Vision Europe Summit “Improving the responses to the migration and refugee crisis in Europe” Matthias M. Mayer and Mehrdad Mehregani have prepared policy recommendations in their new paper “Beyond Crisis Management: The Path Towards an Effective, Pro-active and Fair European Refugee Policy”.
The publication puts forward policy recommendations for a paradigm shift from reactive to pro-active refugee policies. The overarching objective is to create further legal channels for refugees to seek protection in Europe. Measures include both national and EU-policies and are expected to pave the way to a sustainable and coherent European refugee policy.
We hope that you find this paper of interest – and we would certainly be interested in receiving your feedback.
We would also like to draw your attention to the livestream of the Vision Europe Summit, co-organized by eight leading European foundations and think tanks.
