“Caring for Equality” Project Media Relations Coordinator

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Media Relations Coordinator would develop and design an extensive media campaign strategy and implement it to target gender equality issues and Prenatal Sex Selection (PSS) in particular both at local and national levels in Armenia. Based on the strategy journalists and editors of news and advertisement agencies will be trained on proper gender equitable messaging, campaigns will be organized with involvement of celebrities around the mentioned topics and visual materials developed showcasing positive gender role models especially targeting men and young adults. The Project will be implemented in the country both at institutional level enabling an environment to promote policies combatting Gender Based Violence and Prenatal Sex Selection and at community level aiming at changing the social norms.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategizing & policy change

Design and review media campaign strategy and action plan to be implemented with WV Armenia’s “Caring for Equality” Project;

Ensure that adopted media strategy is implemented throughout the regions where the Project is being implemented and beyond;

Be responsible for overall media coverage. Provide Public Relations & visibility support during the organization of public events;

Establish and maintain constant and positive professional contact with key print, radio and TV media, and liaise upon necessity to engage them in Project related activities;

Be committed to work closely with Armenian Apostolic Church throughout implementation of the C4E Project.
Digital and social media, online platforms

Establish and maintain digital and social media presences that support Project goals;

Work out new approaches on digital and social media and other on-line platforms.
Positioning for visibility

In line with World Vision and Project strategy develop and implement visibility policy considering local viewpoints, experience and taste;

Provide advice to Project, Area Programs and relevant departments on matters related to Project PR & visibility;

Develop and maintain professional contacts and relationships with key printing houses and video production companies.
Community mobilization

Ensure that Area Project management and staff are well communicated and aware of Project’s media strategy;

Be involved in implementation of the Project in the regions;

Ensure social media content and engagement plan results in increased community mobilization, endorsing gender and PSS oriented discussion on World Vision-managed digital platforms.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in journalism or communications/public relations/marketing;
-
At least 3 years of experience in journalism/ communications/media;

Experience in community development and mobilization;

Advanced verbal and written communication skills in English and Armenian;

Story writing, photography and videography skills, including video editing skills;

Fluency in computer programs (Word, Excel, Power Point);

Solid knowledge in media relations, understanding of mass media developments in the country;

Knowledge of development work, understanding of reasons of poverty;
-
Willingness to work long hours when required;

Self-motivated, innovative, and able to work under pressure;
-
Experience in communications with international NGOs;
-
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.
