Ampop Media Looking For an Information Designer in Data Visualization

Ampop Media is a data-driven initiative using design and technology. We do data journalism, dataviz storytelling, educational programs and community building jointly with the “Journalists for the Future” NGO. We are specializing in an easy-to-digest data visualization of journalistic researches and reports. Over its one-year activity, Ampop Media has been cooperating with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Armenian Branch, OSCE, US Embassy and Eurasia Partnership Foundation in Armenia.
Ampop Media is looking for an experienced Information Designer who can combine design sensibility, data visualization, and web development skills to present quantitative information in a clear, intuitive, and elegant manner. The ideal candidate possesses both data visualization and graphic design skillsets and a genuine passion for the interplay between data and design.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
• 1-2 years of information/graphic designer's experience
• Experience with Adobe illustrator, open-source tools and libraries
• Some skills in mathematics, statistics, or research
• Ability to speak and write in English
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Discussing the requirements and coming up with creative ideas
• Noticing discrepancies or other issues with the data set
• Understanding and presenting data
• Using effective design and visuals to draw out and present data-driven insights.
• Identifying industry trends and using innovative, strategic thinking to inform visualizations.
• Critical eye for details and ability to contribute creative ideas
• Strong technical skillset;
• Working out deadlines to manage time and stay on schedule
• Producing rough drafts and presenting your ideas
• Making presentations for feedback and approval
• Producing a final layout
• Keeping up with design trends and developments
• Working collaboratively with the editorial team, researchers and data-collectors to bridge the fields of science,
storytelling, design, and data.
• Being creative and possessing strong verbal, visual and written communication skills
• Making edits and corrections based on feedback from the project manager and other team members
• Staying up-to-date on technologies
• Sharing design skills with the staff and/or during our events
