Armenia: Call for Proposals to support organic agriculture initiatives
The Austrian Development Agency (ADC) has announced a new grant scheme under the Organic Agriculture Support Initiative (OASI) in Armenia. Financial support will be provided to farmers' groups, cooperatives, processing units as well as other actors along the organic agriculture production value chain.
According to the information provided in the guidelines for grant applicants, the overall objective of the Call for Proposals is to improve Armenian rural livelihoods in a sustainable manner. More specifically, it shall aim to increase the local value added of Armenian organic producers and food processing companies.
To be eligible, projects should fall into at least one of the following two priorities:
1. Encourage smallholder farmers to switch from traditional to organic agriculture.
2. Enhance productivity and market access of already established organic farmers and processors.
As stated on the ADC web-site, the applications must be submitted before 21 March 2016, 16:00.
The Organic Agriculture Support Initiative, a project supported by the European Union with contributions from the ADC, aims at further development of organic agriculture in Armenia. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
