Fellowship Program
For its Fellowship Program Crisis Group is looking for a fellow to support the Europe Program. The fellowship will be for the duration of 11 months where the fellow will be fully incorporated into the Program in like manner to other staff members. Our fellow will be based in Tblisi.
In addition to benefiting from quality supervision, the fellow will have access to internal training and workshops, have research trips in the region or travel for the purpose of policy engagement. He/She will also spend time in our advocacy office in Brussels.
Training on the following topics in foreseen:
- Research and research methodology
- Report writing
- Policy engagement and advocacy
- Security (including IT security and liability)
- Gender awareness
- Media Crisis Group’s analysis of protracted conflicts in the EU’s eastern neighbourhood, with a view to preventing escalation,
and
- Devising strategies for furthering conflict resolution processes,
Purpose of the role:
Under supervision of the Program Director, Europe and Central Asia, and in close collaboration with other colleagues in the program and our advocacy offices, contribute to:
- Crisis Group’s analysis of protracted conflicts in the EU’s eastern neighbourhood, with a view to
- preventing escalation,
- and devising strategies for furthering conflict resolution processes.
in particular with regard to the conflict regions in the South Caucasus and eastern Ukraine
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Program Director and Analyst, Eastern Neighbourhood on topical reports with a focus on the conflicts in the region;
- (Co-)produce op-eds and blogs and shorter analytic pieces for the website;
- Engage with policy makers;
- Represent Crisis Group while (co-)attending meetings, seminars and events that focus on the conflicts in the region.
Requirements
- A graduate degree in political science, international relations, law or other relevant discipline;
- An in-depth knowledge of the region, including the conflict regions;
- Strong analytical skills and excellent writing skills;
- An ability to travel throughout the region, including the conflict areas;
- At least 2 years of working experience in the region;
- Fluency in Russian and English. Knowledge of other languages spoken in the region is a plus.
