Summary
The Marketing and Communications Consultant supports the Chief Development and Strategy Officer in the full range of marketing and communications responsibilities and initiatives, including creating and implementing integrated marketing campaigns for COAF as a brand and its individual projects; developing editorial content across platforms including social media, website, and email marketing; and supporting marketing, media relations, and other promotional initiatives on behalf of the fund. The Marketing and Communications Consultant will work closely with the internal teams both in New York and Yerevan office to ensure cohesive messaging across all communications platforms.
Responsibilities
Marketing, Communications and Branding:
- Develop marketing and branding initiatives, conduct research related to targeted audiences and regional competitiveness, and manage internal and external communications
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications plan across the organization’s audiences in collaboration with COAF’s team.
- Put communications vehicles in place in to create momentum and awareness, as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities.
- Coordinate freelance designers and brand strategists on the development of the new corporate identity for COAF.
- Create and develop storytelling approach for the COAF brand across all channels of communication
- Manage the design, content and development of the new branded collateral (booklets, infographics, videos, etc.)
- Develop, prepare and distribute marketing materials, social media campaigns, promotional literature, newsletters, brochures, annual reports-newsletters, press releases and special event promotions.
- Monitor analytics of websites, social media and electronic publishing and recommend changes to improve effectiveness and maximize the effectiveness of digital tools for COAF marketing
- Track and measure level of measurement across all channels, including click rate of e-blasts.
- In conjunction with PR agency, manage press especially in Armenian publications.
- Support internal teams on event marketing tasks and other duties
- Assist in the management of social media
- Pitch COAF in line with campaign messaging
- Look out for new trends in the non-profit sector, potential alliances with corporate sustainability initiatives and alternative ways of financing
Donor Relations and Fundraising:
- Work directly with team to strategically plan, develop and implement fundraising strategies and other financial goals to support sustainable funding
- Effectively communicate relevant, timely information to COAF Board members, partners and donors
- Assist in development and maintenance database of potential donors in the new markets (Europe, Russia, Latin America and Asia)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field
- Minimum four years of experience in marketing and communication in a non-profit environment
- Experience in public relations and/or journalism strongly preferred
- Excellent writing, editing, communications, and presentation skills
- Fluency in Armenian strongly preferred
- Excellent research skills and experience in developing and implementing communication plans
- Experience in creating communication platforms, external communication vehicles, and campaigns for a non-profit
- Experience in creating and executing a robust e-communication calendar
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work in a multicultural environment
- Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience in working with Adobe Suite preferred
- Experience in communicating on social media platforms
- Website maintenance skills preferred
- Ability to multitask and work with tight deadlines
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and high level donors in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organization, planning, and time management skills
- Creative thinker, ready to take initiative, work as part of the team or independently, when needed
