Introducing U.S. standards in policy analysis: writing and speaking retreats for young Armenian experts

The Caucasus Institute announces an open call for young scholars, policy columnists and researchers from
think tanks, NGOs, media, universities and research centers in Armenia to participate in three weekend
writing and public speaking retreats that will take place on June 4-6, July 2-4 and September 10-12, 2021
in Aghveran.
The course will concentrate on conveying U.S. academic practices and skills in writing and speaking through
experience sharing and practical tasks, which will boost participants capacities in conceptual approaches to
policy analysis, research design and logic, and working with sources and data verification, public presentation
etc.
The retreats will be summed up with a final writing assignment. Best pieces will be posted on CI website and/or
blogs.

The retreats are organized by the Caucasus Institute with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia.
All expenses related to participation (transportation, accommodation and meals) will be covered by the
Caucasus Institute.
Eligibility:
● PhD students, young scholars, policy columnists and researchers from think tanks, NGOs, media,
universities and research centers in Armenia,
● Professional interest in the field of social sciences and humanities,
● Having a research topic to work on during the retreats,
● Availability to attend the three retreats for their full duration without exceptions,
● Fluent English writing and listening comprehension
Application procedure:
Interested candidates who comply with the eligibility requirements can apply to [email protected] sending their
CV with indication of TOEFL or IELTS score (if available) and a research topic which can be either a current
academic research topic or any topic of academic interest they are willing to pursue in-depth. The deadline for
applications is Sunday, May 23. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed online.
