APO January-February 2016 Newsletter
The Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra is happy to announce its January and February plans and share with you our vision for 2016.
This year is a remarkable year for the Republic of Armenia. The country is celebrating 25th anniversary of its Independence and therefore this year the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra shall be dedicating a range of events to this important date.
First, it is our 10th annual Yerevan International Music Festival to be held in from September 15 to October 18. Second, it is the 90th anniversary concert of the Filharmonik that has been moved from December will occur on March 18. More details will become soon available. Watch our space through our website www.apo.am and the Filharmonik App that will be soon updated and our listeners will be able to buy electronic tickets with its help and listen to online radio broadcasting of our concerts this year.
There are planned tours to United Arab Emirates, Italy, Poland, USA in 2016, and, besides, we are holding our negotiations for possible tours to China and Japan in 2017.
In the meantime we are glad to present to you our upcoming concerts list.
On January 22 the ANPO is presenting a beautiful and challenging program: Symphony No.10 by Shostakovich and Mozart overturas and arias from operas featuring a prominent French Armenian soprano Ruzan Mantashyan.
On February 5, a Spanish conductor Manuel Hernandez-Silva will perform with Nazaret Kiurkchian (double bass) a concerto by Serge Koussevitzky. Besides, our listeners will listen to Ravel's Spanish Rhapsody and Symphonic Dances by Rachmaninov.
On February 12, a very popular Macedonian pianist and our good friend, Simon Trpceski, will perform two concertos by Sergei Prokofiev and an overture on Hebrew themes.
In the middle of February the Filharmonik is visiting the United Arab Emirates. On February 26 a prominent German conductor Lior Shambadal will be performing with a brilliant British violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky a famous Violin Concerto by Felix Mendelssohn.
Thanks to the artistic interest and the consistent work of our media partners, among them: H1, ArmNews TV, Shoghakat TV, AR TV, News Radio, Vem Radio, Radio Hay, and to our all media partners our activities will remain reachable for a broader society further on.
We all would like to thank the President of Armenia and his Spouse Mrs. Rita Sargsyan, VivaCell-MTS, Ministry of Culture of Armenia, the Kuhn Foundation (USA), benefactor Simon Hakobyan, Yerevan Municipality, AGBU, Opera Suite Hotel, Royal Tulip Hotel, and all those who support our vision and believe in uplifting the youth of Armenia and make the pastime of all our citizens and guests of Armenia more classical music oriented.
We also thank our partner organizations that are working on the ground and share our vision. We are especially glad that a range of catering and service partners joined our friends' list and help us reach out to a broader audience: Noyan Tun, La Bella Italia, Cafe Vergnano, the Green Bean, La Boheme, La Perla, Malocco cafes to name a few.
These relationships are invaluable to our work as we learn from each other and discover new ways to improve access, build community, and truly diversify classical music in every sense of the word.
