English for Travel Professionals
Dear Travel Colleagues,
I’ve heard from a few of you expressing interest in a course on English for Travel Professionals. Now I want to get a head count so that we can find the right venue and set the dates.
We’ll probably meet once in November or December to introduce the series, learn what students need, and determine fluency levels. The course will take place in February and March—8 sessions, held once a week in the evening for an hour and a half. We’ll use up-to-date foreign language teaching techniques and focus on communication skills required in real situations, tailored to the specific needs of Armenian travel guides, agents and support staff.
I’m a travel writer and Master’s degree candidate in Teaching English as a Second Language at the Monterey Institute of International Studies in California. My co-teacher, Armenuhi Ghazaryan, has a Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from AUA and is on the staff at AMAP. If things go as planned, we will put the course online for future use, free of charge.
Attached is a form we’d like each of the candidates from your organization complete. Please circulate and return the forms to me as email attachments by November 16.
We truly hope that the course can significantly boost your ability to get business from English-speakers in North America, Europe and beyond who will be enchanted once they visit our beautiful, storied Armenia.
All best,
Susan Spano
