Summer school on Public International Law (PIL) and the 2-day training on International Human Rights Law (IHRL)

The PIL summer school and the 2-day training on IHRL will take place from June 30th till July 9th at the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University. The summer courseis a result of successful cooperation between the Russian-Armenian University and the UNHCR Representation in Armenia, the OSCE office in Yerevan, the CoE office in Yerevan, the ICRC delegation in Armenia and the “Mission Armenia” NGO.
The summer school aims atraising awareness of PIL and respective branches among future lawyers; as well as enhancing the efficiency of currently existing summer schools, moot-courts or similar initiatives in the specific spheres of PIL, by ensuring a better entry level knowledge of PIL among participants.
The key objective of the Course is to provide substantive knowledge on PIL and general knowledge of IHRL in an efficient manner.
The working language of the Summer Course is Armenian.
The students who will successfully complete the summer school will:
- Receive certificate
- Have a priority in the selection process of specialized courses on Refugee law (organized by the support of UNHCR and “Mission Armenia” NGO) or International Humanitarian Law (organized by the ICRC and AUA).

Note that at the end of this summer school, organizers/stakeholders of specialized courses will have short presentations giving the brief outline of relevant specialized courses (to make it easier for students to decide which courses appeal to them).
Who can apply?
We invite applications from bachelor students who meet the following criteria:
- Law students having completed their 1st year of studies, or
- Students majoring in International Relations and Political Science, provided they have received at least 1 course on law and have otherwise relevant background or experience.
- Knowledge of English will be considered an asset.
When is the deadline to apply?
The deadline for applications is June 18th, 2016. Selected candidates will be notified by the 23rd of June, 2016.
