1. Purpose of the Post:
Under the supervision of Communication Officer NO-2, the Programme Assistant (Communication
for Social Change) will support the Communication Officer in strategic partnership building with key
target groups, C4SC campaigns in support of efficient and effective programme delivery, and the
timely production of communication, with an emphasis on digital, materials for advocacy.
2. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
2.1 Communication Materials
Ensure timely production of various communication materials for advocacy purposes in line
with the communication strategy
Gather content and coverage of relevant country efforts to develop communication
materials for digital and media dissemination
Support the production of digital and media materials (briefing notes, multimedia, web,
press releases) that meet country and global standards
2.2 Partnership
Support strategic partnership building with key target groups outlined in the CPD and the
communication strategy
Assist in developing and maintaining close collaboration with target groups, individuals and
organizations whose support is essential to the achievement of advocacy and
communication objectives
Maintain and update celebrity and partner contact lists/database for country office
2.3 Communication for Social and Behavioral Change
Assist in the development and implementation of programme communication strategy and
plan of action and activities for promotion of social and behavioral change in support of
efficient and effective programme delivery
Assist in formative research, development, pre-testing and production of culturally relevant
communication materials to facilitate behavior change
Promote a better understanding of children’s and women’s issues by assisting in social
mobilization and community participation for programme purposes
2.4 Monitoring and Evaluation
Assist in coordinating appropriate audience research and data collection in line with KPIs
outlined in the Global Communication Strategy
Monitor the public perception of UNICEF in the country and recommend appropriate action
to maintain a positive image for the organization
Monitor and track the efficient distribution of supplies that are required for effective
programme delivery
2.5 Admin Support to Communication Team
Draft project documents, work plans, budgets, proposals on implementation arrangements
Carry out transactions in VISION ensuring programme results and track expiring
programme grants
Monitor budgets and financial expenditures of section, ensuring compliance with UNICEF
rules and regulations
Maintain and regularly update all project files and records
3. Requirements and Qualifications:
3.1 Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses
related to the work of the organization, e.g. Mass Communication, Public Relations, Political
Science, Linguistics, Journalism or Social Sciences.
3.2 Fluency in Armenian and English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as
Russian, is an asset.
4. Experience:
4.1 Six years of progressively responsible clerical or administrative work, of which at least one year is
closely related to support of communication activities.
