Description
“Solidarity Network for LGTBI in Armenia and Georgia” is an EU-funded project, implemented by the Heinrich Boell Foundation South Caucasus Regional Office and its project partners in Armenia (Society without Violence NGO and PINK Armenia) and Georgia (WISG and EMC). The aim of the project is to combat homophobia and ensure the respect of LGBTI rights in both countries.
Within the framework of the project, Society Without Violence NGO will hold two 3-day capacity building training for CSOs, one in late July and another in September, to improve their knowledge about gender and LGBTI issues, equip them with new skills for effective advocacy, meet like-minded colleagues, build networks and acquire skills on including LGBTI issues in the organization’s agenda.
Who can apply:
The participants will be selected from general human rights organizations, women’s rights organizations, organizations working on gender issues, on sexual and reproductive health rights, and organizations working on minority issues.
About the training:
The topics covered during the training will include sex, gender, sexual orientation; stereotypes, stigma and discrimination; the situation of LGBTI persons in Armenia (discrimination, physical and psychological violence, study results, specific cases); state response and societal homophobia (legislation, societal attitudes, and hate speech); and internalized homophobia.
Sustainability and small grants opportunity:
At the end of the training, participants will be asked to develop an action plan applying the knowledge gained in real life and within the context of the organizations they represent.
In addition, the participated CSOs will be eligible to submit proposals for micro grants for creating and disseminating different kinds of visibility products and measures that will increase the positive visibility of LGBTI issues and organizations working on LGBTI rights, especially in social media. The small grant projects will be selected and awarded based on an open competition. Collaborative projects will also be appreciated. The applicants should consider the following criteria while designing their projects: innovative approaches and ideas, positive visibility of LGBTI issues and cost-efficiency.
How to apply:
The interested applicants (for the first training to be organized in July) can submit short information about their CSO, including its vision and objectives, as well as a cover/motivational letter mentioning their interest and expectations from the training to the following E-mails: [email protected], cc-ed [email protected] by 10th of July. Please note that the preference is given to early submissions, as places are limited.
